Manchester, N.H. - For the first time in 2024-25, the Adelphi University women's golf team has taken home a team championship, coming at the Hawk Invitational earlier this week taking place at Derryfield Country Club.

"It's been enjoyable to watch the progression of this team. They've really put in the work and improved every tournament," commented Head Coach Bill Bresnan.

The Panthers finished considerably ahead of the four-team competition by 24 strokes, posting a total team score of 82-over 642.  It's the first team win by the program since the 2022 Battle at the Bay held in April of that year.

Filippa Schulze Doering also wins her first individual championship of her collegiate career, coasting seven strokes after tallying an eight and six-over par in each round respectively. The Malta native was the only competitor to score two sub-10 over par rounds.

"Filippa returned ready to go for her second year, it was only a matter of time before she won an individual title," noted Bresnan.

The Brown and Gold played so well as a team that four out of their five golfers tied for fourth place or better. Sophomore Jenny Kim placed in third after tabbing an 11-over 81 in both rounds. Newcomer Ivory Drusch and returner Lauren Jaskier then tied for fourth after both collecting a total score of 25-over 165. Drusch shot sub-80 in Round 2 to get herself within the top five.

Adaline Ochoa rounded out the Panther scorecard with a 33-over 173.

Bresnan and the 'Cats will finish out the fall schedule with two more competition dates starting Friday, October 18 for the Wagner Fall Classic. The tournament will be hosted at La Tourette Golf Club in Staten Island, N.Y.
