Sutton, Mass. - For the second consecutive year, the Adelphi University women's golf team has finished in third place at the annual Northeast-10 Championships at Blackstone National Golf Club, wrapping up Tuesday afternoon.
This is the second-best finish in program history at said event, with a runner-up finish in 2022 still holding the top spot.
"I thought the team played well and is gaining a lot of good experience. Each player had at least one counting score across both days with two getting their personal best in a collegiate tournament," said Head Coach
Bill Bresnan.
Champions Franklin Pierce (+36) and runner-up New Haven (+45) were the lone schools to hold a higher spot than the Brown and Gold (+69). Rounding out the competition in fourth, fifth, and sixth place were Assumption (+99), Bentley (+130), and Saint Anselm (+158).
Ivory Drusch and
Filippa Schulze Doering led the charge for the Brown and Gold, both finishing with total scores of 13-over 157, good enough for a tie at seventh place. Drusch also crept into the top five early on Tuesday, shooting just one-over through the first five holes.
Jenny Kim had a strong Monday, shooting five-over 77 to tie with Drusch and Schulze Doering. Leveling out in the second round of play, the sophomore finished at 23-over 167. Newcomer
Adaline Ochoa had the strongest Tuesday of any other Panther, tallying her best career round at seven-over 79 to slot in at 19th place.
Lauren Jaskier rounded out the Panther scorecard with a two-day score of 179.
Bresnan and Adelphi will be back in action next week at the Hawk Invitational taking place from Monday, Oct. 7 - Tuesday, Oct. 8. Saint Anselm College will host from Derryfield Country Club in Manchester, N.H..
