Garden City, N.Y. - While the Adelphi University men's team took a 99-20 victory over Assumption, the women's side fell 42-78 on Saturday, in dual meet action in the program's home lanes.
Prior to the meet, the program and department recognized the five members of the graduating class which included
Mauricio Fuentes Castillo,
Timothy Yeung,
Tim Kanaley,
Daniel Mattei and
Mackenzie Pina.
Top point earners for the women were
Emily Munayirji and
Delaney Noel, who both recorded two wins apiece as
Zachary Taylor led the way for the men with four top swims.
Eric Slavin and
Ryan Kakimseit impressed in the lanes for the Panthers, securing top swims in their respective events. Slavin swam a 53.85 in the 100 butterfly which was nearly two seconds faster than the finished from Assumption while also topping the lanes for the 50 freestyle in 22.96 seconds. Kakimseit earned victories in both the 100 and 200 backstroke races while also running the opening leg of the 200 freestyle relay.
The teams will be on the road for their next two meets, taking on Le Moyne College and the College of Saint Rose in back-to-back dual meets starting Jan. 12.
The Panthers will welcome Southern Connecticut to Garden City for a dual meet on January 20 in preparation for the 2024 Northeast-10 Conference Championship, slated for Feb. 15-18.
