Mansfield, Mass. - Following a weekend of upstate action, Ryan Kakimeseit of Adelphi men's swimming has been named the Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Kakimseit earned himself four individual top swims and helped two relays to gold over the weekend as Adelphi competed at now-Division I Le Moyne and the College of Saint Rose. Against the Golden Knights he put up a 52.60 time in the 100 backstroke and 2:01.13 in the 200 IM while swimming a 22.50 in his leg of the 200 freestyle relay.

According to swimcloud.com, Kakimseit leads the conference in performance points, which is based on results throughout the season. He currently has the top times in the NE10 in the 50, 100 and 200 backstroke and the 100 butterfly,  while ranking in the top-five in several other events.

His 100 back time of 49.76 stands less than a second off the B Standard qualifying time (48.79) which he completed at the ECAC Winter Championships back in December. This fact stands true for his 100 butterfly time as well which is at 49.44 (B Standard, 48.77).

The program will host swimming powerhouse Southern Connecticut this Saturday, Jan. 20 at noon.

The men's team for the Owls has won the conference title nine times since Adelphi joined the conference in the 2009-10 season and 15 times since 2003-04. Southern Connecticut has had a swimmer or diver of the meet in every championship since 2003-04.

On the women's side, Southern Connecticut has won the last three team titles and also has 15 since 2003-04.
