Greensboro, NC - For the second consecutive year under Head Coach
Bill Ianniciello's leadership, the Adelphi University baseball team earns the 2022-23 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, which is presented by Sports Attack.
Teams from every level of college and high school baseball were honored with this year's award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the entire academic year - the Panthers took home a 3.27 GPA in 2022-23.
In addition to the team's recognition, the Panthers were represented academically by
Anthony Cipri, who garnered Academic All-Conference honors from the Northeast-10 and an Academic All-District citation by College Sports Communicators. His cumulative grade point average stood at 3.875 as he conferred his degree this past May as he continues his education by attending law school this fall.
The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/ATEC Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
