12 Podium Finishes Leads Women's Track and Field to 3rd at NE10 Outdoor Championship

Hooksett, N.H. - It was a weekend highlighted with 12 podium finishes and one Female Field Athlete of the Meet for Adelphi University women's track and field at the 2023 Northeast-10 Outdoor Championships, as the team placed third for the second time since 2021 and Kyria Moore took home the major honor. 

Moore doubled up with gold medals at the championship after winning the weight throw at the Indoor event in March. She placed first in both the hammer throw and the shotput, while also appearing in the top-10 for the discus. For her efforts she was named the 2023 NE10 Female Field Athlete of the Meet and will likely earn a spot in the NCAAs for the hammer. 

Also appearing atop the podium with gold medal finishes were Isabel Marsh (800m) and the women's 4x800, consisting of I. Marsh, Lucia Kutner, Grace Minikel and Sumaira Mayan. This is the third straight year that the Adelphi women's 4x800 relay has defended its title. 

A slew of competitors picked up their silver medals over the weekend as Katherine Marsh appeared twice on the podium for her 800 finish and 1500 effort, which also broke a school record in the process. Lauren Toland, who finished fifth in the pole vault during the indoor season, capped her senior season with a second place showing at a landed height of 3.05m on her first attempt. The winner, out of Franklin Pierce managed a successful go at 3.15 on her second try to win the event. 

Amari Johnson's time of 14.19 in the 100 hurdles was good enough for second place and also acheived an NCAA Division II provisional mark - she sits 38th right now among competitors across the division. Rounding out the silver medals is Grace Minikel in the 5K and the women's 4x400 relay. The quartet of I. Marsh, Fiona Maloney, Gabrielle Griffin and Valencia Beaubrun continued the streak of making the podium, marking the seventh consecutive top-three finish for the Panthers since 2016. 

It was three individuals and one relay that earned bronze this weekend, with I. Marsh taking third in the 1500, Tucci in the 10K and Griffin in the 400 hurdles. The 4x100 realy of Beaubrun, Johnson , Griffin and Christina Gayle locked in the third place medal as they clocked in at 48.45 to finish behind Southern Connecticut and a group out of American International. 

Currently, Adelphi has has qualifiers in the 800, 1500, 100 and 400 hurdles and the hammer at the conclusion of the conference championship season. Last chance meets may be added to better some times, however Moore ranks seventh in the hammer and Isabel is 12th in the 800.
