Mansfield, Mass. - The conference's newest single-season strikeout leader has added one final NE10 Pitcher of the Week honor to her award case in 2023, it was announced Monday.
For the sixth time in ten announcements this season, Adelphi star flamethrower
Lindsey Hibbs has taken home top billing as the NE10 Pitcher of the Week.
Twenty-four hours later, Hibbs logged an NFCA Division II National Pitcher of the Week merit (her second this year) to her resume.
Hibbs put an exclamation point last week on what has arguably been one of the best seasons by an Adelphi pitcher in the program's history.
This week, Hibbs accomplished what no Panther has achieved in the circle in 38 years. Not only did she surpass 300 strikeouts for the second-straight year, Hibbs took down Adelphi Athletic Hall of Famer
Julie Bolduc's single-season record of 337 strikeouts from 1985.
Hibbs entered the final week of the regular season with 292 strikeouts, and the magic number of 337 almost seemed untouchable until the postseason.
On Thursday, Hibbs not only flirted with perfection, but went the distance of nine innings and an astounding 25 strikeouts that placed her fourth among single-game leaders in NCAA Division II history.
Additionally, Hibbs found herself atop the annals of NE10 history, when her 336th strikeout of the year Friday moved her past New Haven's Breanne Gleason for the league's single-season record -- a mark that stood since 2010.
Hibbs will next be in action in the 2023 NE10 Championship, which begins Thursday (May 4) with second-round action from Janet L. Ficke Field in Garden City, N.Y. The Panthers will have a bye to Friday's semifinals, by virtue of earning the No. 1 seed.
