Pomona, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's golf team wrapped up its second tournament of the week Friday at the Spartan Shootout, hosted by St. Thomas Aquinas College at Rotella Memorial Golf Course.

Not only did the 'Cats finish among the top-half of the leaderboard, Adelphi -- coming off its second-best showing of the year at AIC -- posted its third-highest team finish of the 2022-23 campaign.

With a two-day score of 609 (306-303), the Panthers placed fourth out of nine teams in the field. Adelphi also narrowly missed tying for third by a stroke and trailed second by only four shots.

Although his finish didn't factor into the team scoring, Johnny Solari shot 4-over for the tournament and a 1-over-par on the final 18 holes to tie Filip Wetterqvist for the team lead with a 148.

Wetterqvist and Solari both finished in a five-way tie for second place at 4-over. Wetterqvist sat at 2-under through his first nine holes of the tournament, after sinking four birdies.

Mason Rivera produced a strong back nine on Day 1 and concluded the tournament in a tie for 11th with a 151, while Francis Lanuza tied for 15th, carding an 8-over 152.

Between his first and second rounds, Thomas Fasano improved 11 places off his opening round and shot a career-best 77 in the process.

Head Coach David Mattana and his 'Cats return to the links on Apr. 14 at the Long Island Championship at Bellport Country Club.
