Pleasantville, N.Y. - The Adelphi University swimming and diving team had mixed results in its second outing of the season on Friday afternoon at Pace University. In tri-meet action, the AU men were 199-89 winners over Pace, while the women fell twice, to both the host Setters (172-100) and the Felician University Golden Falcons (140-128).
In victory, reigning NE10 Swimmer and Rookie of the Week
Ryan Kakimseit continued his strong start to his collegiate career with wins in four events. The freshman was a member of two winning relay quartets in the 400-yard freestyle and medley relays, and also touched the wall first in the 50-yard backstroke (24.41) and 100-yard butterfly (51.86).
Cooper Rivers joined Kakimseit with four wins, as he won three events individually in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:30.94), 100-yard freestyle (48.51) and 400-yard IM (4:28.11) and was also a part of the 400-yard medley victory.
Other first-place finishes for the men were
Eric Slavin, who won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:50.69, just .11 seconds faster than Pace's Michael Savchuk, as well as the 100-yard backstroke (53.76);
Luke Paragas, a winner in the 50-yard butterfly (25.40);
Connor Singer, a winner in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.23);
Elijah West, a winner in the 50-yard freestyle (23.25); and
Timothy Yeung, a winner in the 500-yard freestyle (5:07.22).
Despite the double defeat for the women, freshman
Aizel Pusing had a solid effort individually. won the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.42) and finished second in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.34) and the 400-yard IM (5:00.78).
The Panthers return to the pool next Friday, Nov. 3, for their home opener, and will welcome SUNY New Paltz to Woodruff Hall for a 4 p.m. meet.
