North East, Pa. - A fifth-place finish was the concluding result for the Adelphi University women's golf team this past weekend at the Evann Parker Memorial, hosted by Mercyhurst University.

The Brown and Gold competed against ten other colleges and improved their score by seven strokes in the final round to card a 137-over 709.

After shooting an 85 in her initial round, Ilaria Ponziani bounced back with a 78 the next day and ultimately earned a team-best ninth-place finish.

Emily McKenna finished in a tie in 24th place, shooting a 34-over 178 to wrap up the two-day competition.

In her season debut, Alexis Cokinos tallied a 37-over 181, tying for 30th place. Her 86 in the second round was a nine-stroke improvement from her Day 1 score.

Amy McCaffrey and Sabrina Nyitray concluded their tournament action with a 187 and a 209, respectively.

The Panthers will compete at the Green Meadows Golf Club this Sunday and Monday (Sept. 25-26) for the Franklin Pierce Invitational in Hudson, N.H.
