Mansfield, Mass. - After a first round exit from the Northeast-10 Conference tournament a season ago, the Adelphi University men's soccer team has been selected fourth in this year's Preseason Coaches' Poll, revealed Wednesday by the league office.

The head coaches from the 12 competing schools picked Franklin Pierce as the favorite for the second-consecutive season with 121 points and 11 of 12 first-place votes. Last season, head coach Ruben Resendes led the Ravens program to it's first NE10 Championship final and title since 2011 and a second-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament (no tournament in 2020 due to COVID-19). 

Franklin Pierce defeated AIC 2-0 in the 2021 NE10 Championship final that helped them earn hosting rights for the NCAA Super Regional. The Ravens advanced to the third round before ending the season with a 20-1-1 record.

For the Brown and Gold, leading goal-scorer Rodrigo Descalzo Rocca returns for another season, after putting up NE10 Conference First Team numbers with 14 goals. Also coming back for his senior season is Daniel De La Heras, who started all 12 games last season, accounting for 43 saves in net. 

The Panthers will start their 2022 campaign with a season-opening Kick-Off Tournament, scheduled for Thursday, August 25, featuring Wilmington (Del.), American International and Post University. The full slate is available online, but will have corresponding release next week.
