5/26/2022 4:45:00 PM

Denver, Colo. - Making its third trip to the Division II Softball Championship, the Adelphi University softball team earned the No. 2 seed among the remaining eight teams in Denver competing for a national title.

The Panthers (47-13) have won 15 of their last 18 games to get to this point, coming up through the elimination bracket of both the East 1 Regional and East Super Regional to set the program's new single season win record of 43 and counting after beating Pace 4-0 on May 13.

After winning the East Super Regional for the first time in seven years, the Brown and Gold have returned to the final competition site since 2016.

Head Coach Carla Campagna makes her first appearance in the Division II Championships at the helm of the Adelphi program after taking over in 2019.

Junior pitcher Claire Fon ranks sixth in Division II with her 1.00 ERA and sophomore right-hander Lindsey Hibbs ranks eighth with 296 strikeouts. Adelphi's pitching staff ranks second with a combined ERA of 1.32 and first with a WHIP of 0.86.

All teams are re-seeded prior to the start of the tournament and Adelphi was ranked No. 2 behind No. 1 UT Tyler. Adelphi will face No. 7 North Georgia (47-16) in a first round match-up on Thursday, May 26.

The Nighthawks own the series between the two teams, winning all three games played. They have outscored the Panthers 23-7. The last time the two programs faced one other was at the 2015 Division II Softball Championship when the Panthers fell 8-0 and the Nighthawks went on to with the program's first-ever national title.

No. 2 Adelphi and No. 7 North Georgia will play today, May 26, at 4 p.m. (MST) / 6 p.m. (EST).
