Game Recap: Softball |

Softball Swept by Eckerd College

St. Petersburg, Fla. - The Adelphi University softball team was swept in a doubleheader against Eckerd College on Monday afternoon at the Turley Athletic Complex.

Series History:

  • Prior to today's doubleheader, the two teams had faced off just twice before.
  • The only previous matchup took place last season (3/9/25), with the Panthers dropping both games of that doubleheader.
Game one: Adelphi 0, Eckerd 13 (F/5)

Highlights: How it Happened:
  • Eckerd chased Kenney out of the game during the second inning, tagging her for seven runs on five hits, highlighted by a pair of home runs from the Tritons.
  • Parente entered in the second and struggled to find the zone, walking two batters before seeing them to come around and score to make it 9-0 through two.
  • The Tritons extended their lead to 13 after a walk and five consecutive singles in the bottom of the third inning.
  • The Panthers' offense couldn't get much going against Eckerd pitcher Brandilyn Reymer, with just two Cats reaching base in the game. Reymer went the full five innings, recording a no-hitter and fanning five along the way.
Game two: Adelphi 3, Eckerd 11 (F/5)

Highlights:
  • Kaitlyn Klepper went 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored.
  • Ellen Tarjan went deep for the second time this season, plating two runs and scoring once.
  • Makayla Comer ripped an RBI single in two plate appearances.
  • Jenna Plue went four and two-thirds innings, striking out two.
How it Happened:
  • Adelphi cracked the box score first in the top of the second inning, with Comer plating Klepper, who reached following a double to left field.
  • The Triton offense picked up where it left off in game one, bringing six runs across against Plue in the bottom half. Eckerd pieced together three hits and a walk before Ella Coiner cleared the bases with a homer.
  • The Cats responded in the top of the third, as Tarjan hit her second round-tripper of the young campaign, following a Jaylen Wright single, to cut the hosts' lead to three.
  • After Eckerd added another run in the fourth, the Tritons put up four more in the fifth to end the game early in mercy-rule fashion.
Up Next:
  • The Panthers will conclude their road trip in the Sunshine State on Tuesday, Mar. 10, as they head to the campus of Embry-Riddle for doubleheader action starting at 2:00 p.m.
