Track & Field Races Regional Competition at ESU All-American Invite

East Stroudsburg, PA - While members of the team were either in Virginia or New Jersey, the remainder of the Adelphi track and field squad headed to Pennsylvania for the ESU All-American Invite, hosted by East Stroudsburg University. 

Christina Gayles' time of 27.13 in the 200 marks a new career-best time in the event as she also finished 14th in the 100 and contributed to a 5th place showing for the 4x100 relay. Fiona Maloney also put up a new personal best time in the 400, crossing the tape in 1:01.34 to take 11th and helping the 4x400 finish fourth out of 12 teams.  

The 4x400 relay clocked in at 4:17.05 and consisted of Beatriz Chavarria, Maloney, Nikki Searles and Olivia Finnegan

On the men's side, Christopher Holt produced a top-three finish in the 100 and ran a new career-best time at 11.04 to place third. Bryan Combary also placed third overall at the ESU All-American Invite in the 110 hurdles with a new career-best time of 15.74, which moves him into eighth overall in the NE10. 

Gabe Silva ran the 5000 race in a time of 16:20.87 which was good enough for 10th overall as Bryce Ridley - who also placed in the top-10 in the 200 - came in eighth in a time of 23.02, claiming a new personal best time in the specialty - he also moved into the top-20 among NE10 competitors to appear at no. 17. 

In the jumps pit, Kevin Nalisa bounded a season-best 13.00m in the triple jump to place third. He also put up a new career-best height in the high jump, clearing 1.75m to finish eighth at the meet. 

The team will prepare for Penn Relays starting Thursday, Apr. 28, which they return to for the first time since the 2019 outdoor season. The women's squad made history the last time out, as the 4x400 relay squad featuring Kayla LittleGabrielle BuisserethAleisha Jeffers and Victoria Major took home the crown in the 4x400 event for the Panthers. Their time of 3:49.76 allowed the women to become the first group from Adelphi to win a women's Penn Relays wheel in over 40 years.
