New York, N.Y. - For the first time in an Adelphi uniform, first year
Matthew Wenz completed a full heptathalon, scoring 3763 points at the
Dr. Sander Invitational Columbia Challenge this weekend, hosted at the Armory Track and Field Center.
His best finish came in the shot put, where he placed fifth overall in the field of 12 competitors, throwing a distance of 12.43m. The lone Division II competitor, Wenz scored enough points for an IC4A/ECAC qualifying mark.
In the long jump, where he placed eighth, he bested four Division I athletes, out of Cornell, Lehigh, Penn and UCLA.

The track programs are slated to attend two-more meets in advance of the Northeast-10 Indoor Track and Field Championships scheduled for Feb. 24-25.
