Boston, Mass. - Projected to finish seventh in the pre-championship poll, the Adelphi University men's track team finished there after the weekend competition at the 2022 Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Championships, hosted inside the Reggie Lewis Center.
Two competitors for the Panthers completed the full heptathlon, with
Matthew Wenz placing seventh in the field as
Dre Litsey ended up ninth. Wenz bested his previous hepathlon points total this go around, finishing with 3995, good enough for an IC4A/ECAC qualifying mark. His best event was the shotput, where he placed second with a launch of 11.65m, to earn him 585 points.
Making it to the finals,
Nicholas Nanan and
Diego Llanos both competed in the Mile and 3000M races, with Nanan placing eighth in the former event in a time of 4:21.37 for a new career-mark.
Thomas Roulette led the field in the 3000 event with an 11th place finish in a time of 8:53.63 - while putting up a personal best time in the 5000 at 15:19.33 to place sixth.
The men's distance medley relay featured Nanan,
Sufiyan Sarguroh, Chris Bien-Aime, and Llanos, as they nearly reached the podium in a time of 10:22.95 to come in fourth.
In the field,
James Wagnac recorded a 13.03m triple jump effort, landing him seventh amongst his competitors.
Llanos and Nanan will compete on Sunday at the B.U. Last Chance meet, hosted by the Boston University Terriers.
