Mansfield, Mass. - After the opening weekend of indoor track and field action for Adelphi University, several athletes are being recognized bt the Northeast-10 Conference office as both the men's and women's 4x400 relay squads have been named Relay Team of the Week, announced Tuesday.Â
The Adelphi quartet of Gabrielle Griffin, Claire O'Regan, Fiona Maloney and Joanna Weber clocked in at 4:13.21 in the women's 4x400 to place fifth overall at the Youree Spence-Garcia Meet hosted by Saint John's over the weekend.Â
The men's 4x400 "A" relay came from behind to capture the gold - besting the field in 3:27.12. The quartet of Christopher Holt, Chuck Nwankwo, Giovanni Senat and Kyle Cronin defeated several Division I competitors in the process.
Earning weekly honor roll recognition on the men's side were
Bryan Combary and
Khalil Chester as
Amari Johnson was represented for the women.Â
Combary posted a time of 8.73 to take the individual title in the 60HH as Johnson did the same in the women's race, clocking in at 8.92. Her time stands as the fastest 60HH result in the conference from the weekend.
Khalil Chester jumped 6.79m on his second attempt in the long jump over the weekend, to place third overall behind competitors from Fordham and St. Peter's.
The team will now pause for finals and the holiday break before returning to action in 2023.Â
