11/5/2022 8:00:00 AM

New Paltz, N.Y. - With the home opener on the horizon, the Adelphi University men's and women's swimming and diving program took to the northway to take on the Hawks of SUNY New Paltz on Friday, with the men coming away with a victory in the dual meet.

The men secured a 77-35 win, for their third straight, as the women suffered a 37-75 defeat at Elting Pool.

The men's 200 medley relay consisting of Brian Klotsche, Connor Singer, Sean Roudnitsky and Daniel Dalrymple earned the Panthers first points in the lanes after putting together a time of 1:38.62 to place first. Klotsche's time of 54.59 in the 100 backstroke and 53.42 in the 100 butterfly were also good enough for top swims. Dalrymple came in first in the 50 freestyle event, besting the field with a time of 22.22 seconds.

Singer was also responsible for titles in the 100 and 200 breaststroke races, with times of 1:00.40 and 2:15.61, respectively. A pair of individual wins were secured by Timothy Yeung, who swam 10:45.22 in the 1000 freestyle and finished just over one second off his personal best in the 200 butterfly.

Cooper Rivers continued his winning ways, with three individual titles in the 200 freestyle, backstroke and individual medley.

Also securing a first place finish was the men's 200 freestyle relay with Klotsche, Yeung, Dalrymple and Rivers as they raced to a time of 1:31.50.

The women's 200 freestyle relay was the best in the lanes on Friday, clocking in at 1:47.63 with the quartet of Emily Munayirji, Mackenzie Pina, Elena Cunneen, and Isabella Bonagura.

First year Munayirji was the top point-scorer for the Panthers this week, topping the  200 freestyle event in a time of 2:01.74, while also placing first in the 200 backstroke (2:14.80). Also on the women's side, Delaney Noel swam a season best in the 500 freestyle and clocked in at 5:39.85 which falls two seconds shy of her career-best, dating back to last season's Northeast-10 Championship.

Adelphi will open up at home next Friday, Nov. 11 when they host Mount Saint Mary College at 4:00 p.m.
