Kings Point, N.Y. - As the teams now break for the Thanksgiving holiday, the Adelphi University men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at the USMMA Memorial Invitational on Saturday in Kings Point.
The freshmen shined brightest for the Panthers, with
Connor Singer and
Emily Munayirji each registering a pair of highlight finishes in individual races.
Singer won the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke in respective times of 59.31 and 2:12.21, while Munayirji took top honors with her 5:31.73 in the 500-free and swam second in the 200-back.
Cooper Rivers' 200 IM time of 1:58.44 bested the field. He also placed second in the 100-fly at 52.55 and came in fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with an even 22.00 clocking.Â
Brian Klotsche narrowly missed a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a 54.94. The two swimmers ahead of Klotsche were less than a second faster.
Timothy Yeung swam a steady second-place time of 5:05.44 in the 500-free and finished among the middle of the pack in the 200-fly (2:08.03) and 400 IM (4:37.82).
On the women's side,
Delaney Noel followed Munayirji in the 500-yard freestyle in third, touching the pad at 5:39.48. She clocked a 2:11.28 in thw 200-free, as well.
Ashleigh Gault earned a third-place finish in the 200-fly,, after completing the race in 2:36.54.
Elena Cunneen was among the leaders following the first lap of the 200-yard breaststroke and ultimately swam a 2:42.67 in the event.

Marc Danin will next compete in the ECAC Winter Championship from Dec. 2-4 at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow.
