Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University Head Men's Tennis Coach
Rebecca Fakas announced Friday that three recruits are set to join the Panthers, beginning with the 2021-22 season.
Fakas' latest signing class consists of three international players.
Reece Farrow,
Thomas Horsley and
Marko Jovanovic make up the crop of newcomers who will arrive on campus next fall.
"We are excited to welcome this incoming class for the Fall 2021 season. This is a very talented group of players that will continue to uphold our program's tradition of excellence, both on the court and in the classroom," Fakas said.
"We are set to graduate three current lineup players later this spring, with only one returning next fall. Therefore, we are confident that Reece, Thomas, and Marko will strengthen our team and help take this program to the next level. I am eager to coach these three players alongside the returners, and I look forward to the upcoming year."
Reece Farrow
Height: 5-11
Hometown: Watford, United Kingdom
High School: Queens' School
- Trained at the Berkhamsted Elite Tennis Academy (BETA) and achieved a European ranking
- Has won multiple regional tournaments within the UK.
- His UK ranking is a 3.1 and has an overall high national ranking within the Top 100
- Represented Hertfordshire County since the age of 12 and competed at multiple Junior Open tournaments
- Competed in the Peugeot Tennis Challenge finale exhibition match at the Royal Albert Hall in 2018
Fakas on Farrow: "We look forward to having Reece join our team in the fall. He is a very impressive all-court player with great experience in both singles and dobbles. He comes from a strong academy in the UK, and will bring a great energy to the team. He is an excellent student that will attend the Honors College, and we are confident that he will succeed both on the court and in the classroom."
Thomas Horsley
Height: 6-2
Hometown: Addingham, United Kingdom
High School: Ermysted's Grammar School
- Selected for the U18 Yorkshire County Cup winning team, which was ranked Top 5 in the county since 2011
- Been playing tennis since the age of 5
- Competed at Tennis Europe and ITF Tournaments throughout Europe.
- His best results include being a semifinalist at the Tennis Europe event in Bergen, Norway, as well as the British Tour Winner.
Fakas on Horsley: "We can't wait to welcome Thomas to Adelphi. He has a fantastic game and will have an immediate impact for us. He has a strong academic resume, and was also accepted into the Honors College here. Thomas exudes a positive and hardworking demeanor both on and off the court, and we have no doubt that he will be successful for our program come this fall."
Marko Jovanovic
Height: 6-1
Hometown: Belgrade, Serbia
High School: Elevation Preparatory Academy
- Ranked No. 2 in the nation for U16 and No. 3 in all other categories in the country.
- Also ranked No. 526 in World Juniors and trained at the Marina OASA Tennis Club in Serbia.
- Participated in multiple tennis tournaments organized by the Serbian Tennis Federation and Tennis Europe
- Won the Championship of Belgrade in 2016, and a semifinalist and finalist at multiple Tennis Europe tournaments in Montenegro, Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary since 2015.
- Participated in many USTA tournaments during his time living in Florida, as well as competed at the Orange Bowl, and the IMG Edie Herr International Junior Championship.
Fakas on Jovanovic: "Marko is an excellent all-court player, and we are excited to welcome him to our program next year. He is coming from a strong academy in Florida, and is familiar with a few of our current players. We are certain that he will be a great fit, both on the court and academically, and we look forward to his career as a Panther."
