Three Basketball Alums Make D2EastHoops Super 75 List

Garden City, N.Y. - Over the past month, D2EastHoops.org founders and long-time regional basketball experts Chris Granozio and Stephen Zerdelian looked back on their near four decades of covering the NCAA Division II men's and women's basketball landscape -- more specifically, the East Region -- and selected 15 trailblazing players at each position to make up their Super 75.

A pair of Adelphi Athletic Hall of Famers (Ryan McCormack, Edward Williams) represented the men's basketball program, while Jessica Kitrys was the lone Adelphi women's basketball selection.
Ryan McCormack
McCormack blossomed into one of the greatest point guards in the school's history. To date, no other Adelphi men's basketball player has appeared in more games.

A two-time NYCAC Player of the Year, McCormack's impact helped lead the Panthers to an NCAA Division II Elite Eight appearance and a No. 1 national ranking in 2000-01. He was also named the Most Outstanding Player of the NYCAC Tournament and the NCAA Division II Northeast Region Player of the Year in 2001.

Their 31-1 record (started 31-0) that year still stands as the program's all-time winningest season.

McCormack, who held the school's career assist record for 20 years after being dethroned by Conor McGuinness, remains the school's only NABC First Team All-American. He averaged 12.5 points, 5.8 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game in his four years (1997-2001) with the Panthers and ranks seventh all-time on Adelphi's career scoring list with 1,553 points.

While McCormack ran the point, Williams was a formidable presence in the post.
Eddie Williams
At 6-foot-6, Williams' stature created nightmares for opposing players in the frontcourt. He averaged 9.1 points and 5.4 rebounds in 115 career games from 1998-2002 and scored at a clip of 13.7 points per game over his final two seasons. Those last two years delivered back-to-back NCAA Northeast Regional Championships to Adelphi.

Most notably, Williams eclipsed the 1,000-point scoring plateau in the 2002 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship Game, when he poured in 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a 77-56 win over Assumption.

In addition to being a two-time NYCAC All-Conference and NABC All-Region performer, Williams was selected as the 2002 All-Met Division II Player of the Year and earned NABC All-America Honorable Mention accolades in the process.

Kitrys is the gold standard of prolific scorers in the annals of Adelphi women's basketball history.Jessica Kitrys

Named to the D2Hoops.com All-Decade Team last February, Kitrys shattered the program's career scoring record with 1,727 points between 2010-14 and wrapped up her career with an NE10 All-Conference first-team nod in 2014.

As a senior, Kitrys steered the Panthers to a 23-win season (most wins since 2001-02), as well as the program's first appearance in the NE10 Tournament final and the team's first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2004.

Kitrys ranks in the Top 10 all-time at Adelphi in seven different career categories and owns the school's single-season records for scoring average (19.8), made field goals (247) and field-goal percentage (.580).
