Softball to Add Four Newcomers for 2023 Season

Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University softball head coach Carla Campagna has announced that four players have signed a National Letter of Intent to join the 2023 roster, as part of the fall signing period. 
 
"The class of 2022 has shown dedication, commitment, and pride to our program from the moment they first stepped on campus," Campagna said. "We are excited to welcome four talented student-athletes to the Panther softball family. The talent level, competitive drive, and passion are true to the Adelphi softball tradition."
 
The list of newcomers includes Kya Birtz, Anita Farkash, Brianna Fischer and Jordyn Pasqueralli.

Campagna on Birtz: "Kya made her impact on our program last summer by handling herself with class, poise and competitive mentality on the mound. Her ability to correct and adjust pitch to pitch makes her a tough competitor to beat on a daily basis. Kya's spin and ability to spot the ball where she wants exemplifies her maturity and knowledge of the game as a pitcher. I am extremely excited for her to begin working with our pitching coach, Lou Vanacore."

Why Farkash Chose Adelphi: "I chose Adelphi University because when I first stepped on campus I felt very at home. I have had many opportunities to visit the campus while attending the Adelphi Softball Clinics, and each time the coaching staff has always made me feel welcome. As a result of that experience, I wanted to become a part of the environment and family Adelphi University has created for me." 
 
Campagna on Farkash: Anita is another Long Island native joining the program whose hard work and dedication is something we can't wait to have. Anita's pride and passion for Adelphi University is something that we continue to aim for to exemplify the traditions of softball among prospective student-athletes. Anita will provide us with depth in many positions as a utility player, including in our lineup. We are excited to welcome Anita to AU."

Why Fischer Chose Adelphi: "I chose Adelphi University because it feels like a home. It is close to family and the softball program has the priorities I care about."

Campagna on Fischer: "Brianna is an outstanding athlete and will give us defensive versatility in the catching and infield positions. She can provide an instant impact offensively with her combination of power and ability to hit consistently from gap to gap . Her presence and awareness behind the plate is a great addition for us. We welcome Brianna to the Panther family."

  • Hit .440 with two HRs, 10 RBIs, and 15 SB in 2021

Why Pasqueralli Chose Adelphi: "I chose Adelphi because I wanted to be able to play college softball at a high level and still be able to stay close to home, and Adelphi is able to give me both."

Campagna on Pasqueralli: "Jordyn's athleticism and speed will make an immediate impact on our program. I am always excited to continue to add Long Island student-athletes to our roster as there is a sense of pride representing a university from where you grew up. The first time I saw Jordyn was a day to remember as she caused havoc in the box and on the base path. Her ability to read the play and quickly react is something we are thrilled to add to our roster. She is a versatile outfielder, and is a left-handed hitter with a lot of speed."
