Hempstead, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's tennis team closed out the fall portion of its 2019-20 schedule over the weekend at the Hofstra University Fall Invitational at the Hofstra Outdoor Tennis Center in Hempstead.

The tandem of David Leader and Andrew Ray highlighted the weekend for the Panthers, as the pair won the consolation final of the "B" doubles bracket.

Leader and Ray won by walkover in their consolation opener against Hofstra's Yusuke Nishitani and Kian Ziari, before knocking off St. Francis College's Grant Louis and Tomas Bernardes, 7-5, and Siena College's Geovanny Mendoza and Marvin Oberli, 6-3.

Mendoza and Oberli lost to AU's Henrique Souza and Valentin Le Goupil-Maier in the main "B" doubles draw by a 6-2 scoreline. Le Goupil-Maier also reached the finals of the "D" singles consolation bracket, but retired trailing 5-2 to St. Francis' Tom Just.

In "A" doubles, David Robres de Veciana and Luke Attride-Stirling won in a tiebreaker over Queens College's Nicholas Volos and Hugo Evangelista in a consolation match.

Sabin Saveluc and Robres advanced to the "B" and "C" singles consolation semifinals, respectively. Saveluc won by walkover, while Robres came away with an 8-0 victory against St. Francis' Tim Cecere.

With their fall season now concluded, the Panthers are back in action in 2020, when they meet Concordia College in their spring opener on Saturday, Feb. 22 in Bronxville.
