Philadelphia, Pa. - Kiara Birch was the sole athlete representing the Adelphi University track and field family at the Penn Relay Multis on Tuesday and Wednesday, but she wasn't the lone member of the Birch family competing at the famed meet.

The sophomore placed fourth in the heptathlon, earning 3,918 points after completing in seven different events, and finished just ahead of her sister, Eboni, a senior at St. John's University.

On Tuesday, Birch, the Panther, started things off with the 100 hurdles event, earing 651 points with a time of 16.53. She then moved on to the high jump for her second event of the day, where she cleared 1.44m for her final score. She ended day one's events with the shot put, where she threw a final score of 9.46m in her third attempt.

As day two commenced, the sophomore began with the 200m, clocking in at 27.77, followed by the long jump in which she landed at the 4.55m mark.

Her best event overall was the javelin throw, where she clinched a first-place finish for 506 points. In her final event, Adelphi's Birch finished the 800m with a season-best time of 2:35.79 for a fourth-place finish.

Her total of 3,918 points now ranks her ninth on the Adelphi all-time list for the event.

The Brown and Gold will compete in another split weekend, with half of the Panthers joining Birch at the Penn Relays beginning tomorrow, and the remainder traveling to the TCNJ Lion Invite on April 26-27.
