Custodio and Major Punch Tickets to NCAA Indoor Championships

Pittsburg, Kansas - Felipe Custodio and Victoria Major are headed back to the NCAA Indoor Championships.

The Adelphi pair were among 540 athletes announced in the official national championship field on Tuesday evening, with Custodio earning a spot in the 200-meter field and Major qualifying in the high jump. 

270 men and 270 women will compete in the championships overall, and student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching the automatic and provisional standards established for each event. 

Custodio's season-best time in the 200m came just last weekend at the BU Last Chance meet, where he broke a seven-year-old school record with a time of 21.38. The Valley Stream, N.Y. native in the two-time Northeast-10 Conference champion in the event. Last year, he qualified for the national meet in the 400m race.

Major, who has qualified in the indoor high jump in three straight seasons, boasts a season-best leap of 1.72m. That mark is .02 off of her career best, is the highest in the region this season, and ranks in a tie for ninth nationally.

The championships will be held March 8-9 in Pittsburg, Kansas at the Robert W. Plaster Center. Pittsburg State University and the Crawford County Convention & Visitors Bureau will serve as co-hosts of the championships.
