Rockaway, N.J. - The Adelphi University women's bowling team placed seventh out of 11 teams over the weekend at the Cougar Classic, hosted by Caldwell University at Rockaway Lanes in Rockaway.
The Panthers went 6-4 in their 10 matches, posting the highest pinfall of any team in the tournament at 11,081. Adelphi knocked down the third-most pins (4,507) of any team in Baker matches and had a total pinfall of 5,231 in traditional matches.
The Panthers won three matches in both formats. Adelphi won its first three Baker contests against Monmouth University (888-870), Fairleigh Dickinson University (964-891) and Felician University (879-811), and beat New Jersey City University (888-712), Long Island University (879-871) and Molloy College (909-865) in traditional play.
In Sunday's best-of-7 bracket play, the Panthers lost a tough 4-3 decision to Molloy in its opener, before earning a 4-3 victory over Caldwell, in which it rallied from a 3-2 deficit.
McKenna Collier, who led the Brown and Gold with a 10th-place finish at the tournament, bowled a 222 in the win against Caldwell.
Overall, Adelphi had four bowlers place in the Top 20.
Megan Wehmeier rolled a 1,081 series for a 13th-place finish.
Hannah Manetta opened up with a 232 against NJCU, en route to placing 16th with an 1,034 series.
Olivia Lopera followed in 18th with a 1,020 series.

Dennis Kearney and the Panthers will next compete in their final tournament of the fall, when they travel to Kenosha, Wis. for the Stormin' Ladyjack Classic, hosted by Stephen F. Austin University from Nov. 15-17.
