Oceanside, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's tennis team earned its first win of 2018 with a 9-0 sweep of Saint Michael's College at the Point Set Indoor Racquet Club on Tuesday afternoon in the team's Northeast-10 Conference opener.
Adelphi (1-3, 1-0 NE10) earned the 3-0 sweep at doubles in reverse order, as third flight, second flight and first flight all went in favor of the Panthers.
Matteo Cannavera and
Luke Attride-Stirling edged a tight decision in the pro set at the top spot, taking an 8-6 decision over Matt Mosher and Dan Foley.
The pair led Adelphi in singles as well, as they and
David Robres de Veciana all posted identical 6-0, 6-1 singles wins to help Adelphi to a win. No Adelphi player dropped more than four games, as
Sabin Adrian Saveluc earned his first win of the season at the No.2 spot, 6-1, 6-3.
Adelphi is back in action on Thursday afternoon, heading to Queens College for a 12 p.m. match in Flushing.
