1/16/2018 11:00:00 AM

Garden City, N.Y. - For the first time in four seasons, the Adelphi University softball team will kickstart its season in Florida, as Head Coach Bree Nasti and Associate Head Coach Ophir Sadeh released the Panthers' spring slate on Tuesday.

Adelphi began each of its past three seasons out west in California, adding a trip to Utah for the 2017 season, but the Panthers will return to the Sunshine State for non-conference play beginning on Feb. 18.

The season kicks off for the Panthers in Florida on the campus of Florida Tech with a pair of single games against St. Mary's University (Tx.) and Flagler College. The Brown and Gold will later face Rollins College, Embry-Riddle University and Palm Beach Atlantic University in a total of seven games to close out the month of February from the 20th to the 24th.

Returning home, March kicks off with a double header against the New York Institute of Technology at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on March 4 as Adelphi begins play on Janet L. Ficke Field. After a week of rest, the Panthers will be back on March 14, and kick off a stretch which will see them play 12 of 14 games in Garden City. Adelphi will welcome Georgian Court, LIU Post and Molloy to Ficke Field for non-conference action, with a quick trip down I-95 to Delware for a double-header at Wilmington on March 18 in between.

Northeast-10 (NE10) conference play commences on March 21 against Southern Conn. State, and Adelphi will also welcome conference foes Saint Anselm and Saint Michael's to campus later in the week. The Panthers finally hit the road again the following week, playing the bulk of games on the road at SCSU, American Int'l, Assumption, Merrimack and Pace as the calendar rolls into April.

From there, Adelphi splits its remaining action for the season, welcoming Saint Rose to Garden City on the weekend of April 14-15, and New Haven on April 24. In between, the Panthers will travel to West Haven, Conn. for road against against the UNH Chargers, and up to Syracuse for divisional action at Le Moyne.

Last season, the Brown and Gold finished with an overall record of 38-15-1, and a 21-5 mark in the Northeast-10. Adelphi won its second NE10 Championship and reached the East Super Regional.
