Rindge, N.H. - The Adelphi University men's golf team opened up the 2017 fall season at the Franklin Pierce Invitational hosted at Keene Country Club on September 10 and 11. The Brown and Gold posted a two-day team total of 648 (332-316) to finish seventh in the field.
Southern New Hampshire claimed the the team title with a 36 hole team total of 594 (298-296), just four strokes ahead of hosts Franklin Pierce University who finished the event at 598 (304-294). Saint Thomas Aquinas, Dominican- NY and Assumption College rounded out the top- five teams, with the latter two tying for fourth place at 621.
The Panthers ended round one, Sunday afternoon, in ninth place with a score of 322 behind Felician College. After the first day back on the course Nick Kelapire led the group with a score of 78 as teammates Jack Conlon and Peter Jeranek were not far behind, finishing with 83 and 84, respectively. The top three for the squad rounded out the invitational tied for 17th, 24th and 36th after the latter two dropped their day one scores on the second day.
Devon Neudorf and Brett Sadinsky rounded out Adelphi's top-five scorers with finishes of tied for 54th, courtesy of scorecards that read 171 (89-82) and 171 (87-84).
The Brown and Gold will return to action on Sept. 18-19 to compete in the Southern New Hampshire University Penmen Invitational, hosted at the Hanover Country Club.
