Men's Tennis Ousts Assumption, 7-2, for Fifth Straight Win

Worcester, Mass. -- The Adelphi University men's tennis team ran its winning streak to five on Wednesday, defeating the Assumption Greyhounds in Northeast-10 Conference play, 7-2.

Despite dropping a set for the second straight match, reigning NE10 Player of the Week Matteo Cannavera won another match at top flight singles for the Panthers, leading two three-set rallies in singles play. Also coming back after losing the opener was Roey Heymann at No. 3, as he edged Marco Leung after losing the first set in a tiebreak, 6-7, 7-5, 10-7.

Adelphi previously took two of three doubles matches, at No. 3 and No. 1 to lead 2-0 in the match, before a tiebreak victory at No. 2 prevented a sweep for the Greyhounds. Straight sets wins for Connor Dove and David Robres de Vecia put Adelphi one point away from the match win, which was secured thanks to Cannavera's comeback.
