Franklin, Mass. -- With the Adelphi University men's tennis team one point away from a defeat at the hands of the Bentley University Falcons, senior
Sander Brenner and freshman
Daniel Khodosh each recorded three-set victories in singles to turn the match and give the Panthers a 5-4 road victory on Tuesday afternoon at the Adirondack Club.
The home team led 2-1 after doubles, but Adelphi's (7-7, 6-2 NE-10) top team of
Uladzislau Litvinchuk and Brenner ensured the Panthers would not get swept in doubles, as they toughed out an 8-6 win at No. 1 over Brendan McCarthy and George Samander.
After Bentley's (11-5, 4-2 NE-10) Michael Fuca defeated
Connor Dove at No. 5 singles, the Panthers drew level in the match at 3-3 behind a pair of straight set victories from
Roey Heymann and Litvinchuk at No. 4 and No. 1, respectively. However, Bentley moved back in front and one point away from victory when Dylan Granat edged
Sebastian Zapata by a 7-6(1), 6-3 score.Â
After Brenner took the first set, Samander bounced back by the slimmest of margins as he claimed the second set by winning the tiebreak, 7-5. At No. 6, Khodosh rallied to force a third set after being outgunned in the opener by Brett Gilman, 1-6, 6-3. With the deciding matches both in winner-take-all third sets, it was the Panther duo who prevailed in both to come away with the win; Brenner claimed his final set by a difference of one break of serve, 6-4, while Khodosh and Gilman were evenly matched until the tiebreak -- which the Adelphi freshman dominated, 7-2.

NOTES
- Khodosh clinched a second win for Adelphi this season after recording the final point of a 5-4 victory over Le Moyne.
