Men's Tennis Snaps Skid with 9-0 Win Over St. Michael's

Garden City, N.Y. -- The Adelphi University men's tennis team snapped a four-match losing streak to begin the spring season with a 9-0 victory over the visiting Purple Knights of St. Michael's College on Saturday.

The Panthers (3-4, 3-0 NE-10) got off to a quick start in doubles, as they dropped just three games across three flights. Leading the way were Uladzislau Litvinchuk and Sander Brenner at the No. 2 spot, as they blanked their opponents 8-0 before Matteo Cannavera and Sebastian Zapata lost just one in the top spot. Wrapping things up for the Brown and Gold in doubles were Connor Dove and Roey Heymann, who partnered for the first time this season to win 8-2.

Singles went in similar fashion for the Panthers as they won all six matches in straight sets en route to the 9-0 win. Heymann and Zapata recorded identical 6-1, 6-1 wins at No. 4 and No.5 singles, while Cannavera and Brenner also posted identical scores of 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 and No. 3.

"For our first conference match of the spring season I am very proud of the guys for pulling out a great win especially with being outdoors," Interim Head Coach Joanna Haich stated. "We have had a great preseason that has readied all the players for the coming conference matches."

The Panthers return to action next Saturday, March 26, when they travel to Southern New Hampshire for a 12 pm NE-10 contest.
