Several School Records Fall At ECAC Championships For Swimming Program

Full Results
Anapolis, Md.- This past weekend, the Adelphi University swimming and diving team competed in the ECAC Championships in Anapolis, Md. in the squad's last competition of the 2015-16 season. These championships featured 22 teams on the women's side and 23 on the men's, with Adelphi placing 15th and 21st, respectively.

The Panthers broke multiple school records on this weekend, bringing their good form over from the NE-10 Championships earlier this month. They kicked off the record-breaking weekend with the women's 200 free relay team, featuring Kelly Whelan, Jacqueline Vani, Danielle Dreiss and Heather Miller. They posted a final time of 1:41.16 in this event to place tenth. Vani followed up this stellar team performance with an individual one of her own in the 200 IM, as she placed 34th with a time of 2:13.23, which broke the school record in this event.

Grace Zhang put together a pair of record-breaking performances in the 50 free and 100 free. She posted a final time of 24.13, beating her own school record by .93 seconds. In the 100 free, she broke a 10-year-old record by posting a time of 54.08. Dreiss broke her fourth individual and eighth overall record this season when she posted a final time of 18:02.84 in the 1650 free.

The first season for head coach Bobby Smith saw the Panthers take new strides as a program, as they rewrote the record books in on the men's and women's side in both individual and team events, including nine total at the NE-10 Championships.
