Garden City, N.Y.- Yesterday afternoon the Adelphi University swim team took to the water and celebrated their seniors as they faced The College of Saint Rose at the Center for Recreation and Sport.

While the seniors enjoyed a day to reminisce about their collegiate careers, the outcome didn't go as planned. The women lost by a team score of 56-39, while the men lost 67-28.

The Panthers started off the day with back-to-back 2
nd and 3
rd place finishes in the men's and women's 200 medley relay, followed by their first win of the day in the fourth event. Â
John Rotolo posted a final time of 10:45.06 in the men's 1000 yard free to secure the first place finish.

This performance was tailed by an unbelievably close finish in the women's 200 yard free as
Danielle Dreiss placed second with a final time of 2:02.34, just .02 seconds behind the leader.

Seniors
Heather Miller and
Zachary Mazur also picked up first place finishes on their big day with Miller winning the 50 yard free, while also helping her relay team win the 200 yard freestyle in the final women's event. Mazur placed first in the 100 yard free, and came up .01 seconds short of another first place finish in his attempt to help his relay team win the 200 yard freestyle.

Miller posted a final time of 26.20 in the 50 free and helped her team set a final time of 1:46.81 in the 200 freestyle to solidify her strong individual performance on the day. Mazur swam to a final time of 50.16 in his 100 yard free victory.

The College of Saint Rose controlled the afternoon winning 15 of the 22 events that took place on this day and, while this loss is tough for the Brown and Gold, they will have a quick turn around and important match-up in just a few days.

The team is slated to face the College of Staten Island on Thursday, January 21 at 5 pm in Staten Island, N.Y. This will be the Panthers final regular season match, as the Northeast-10 Championships will take place the first weekend of February.
