Women's Lacrosse And Stonehill Set For NCAA Quarterfinal On Saturday

Garden City, NY - The quest for back-to-back titles and the program's seventh NCAA Championships begins on Saturday for the North Region top-seeded Adelphi University women's lacrosse team with a 12:00 pm NCAA Tournament Quarterfinal matchip against the fourth seed Skyhawks of Stonehill.

Scouting #1 Adelphi (18-1): In his first season as Head Coach, Pat McCabe as amassed a 18-1 overall record while leading the Panthers to a second straight Northeast-10 Conference Championship last weekend. For the Tournament, Ryley Weber was named MVP while Alexa Froccaro and Felicia Mills joined her on the All-Championship Team. The Brown and Gold enter the NCAA Tournament riding a four-game winning streak after falling to New Haven on Wednesday, April 22 for the program's first loss since the 2013 Final Four. Froccaro leads the Panthers and is 11th in the NCAA with 65 goals while her 87 points is also a team-high and ranks ninth in the nation. Meanwhile, Mills is pulling in 6.37 draw controls per-game, second best in the country, while Taylor Hayes 4.69 goals-against-average is tops in NCAA Division II.

Scouting #4 Stonehill (15-4): The Skyhawks advanced to the NE-10 Championship Semifinal round last weekend to help earn a big to the NCAA Tournament Field. Stonehill is making its eighth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and second over the last three years. The Skyhawks are two-time national champions, winning the title in 2003 and 2005. Head Coach Katie Conover ('03) was a senior on Stonehill's first national championship squad, earns her third NCAA Tournament bid as a head coach at her alma mater. Brooke Rudden leads the Skyhawks with 66 points thanks in large part to her 48 assists, tied for 9th most in the NCAA. Lizzie Lane has scored a team-high 40 goals towards 48 points that helped earn her All-League First Team honors.

Adelphi vs. Stonehill: The Panthers and Skyhawks haved faced off twice this season, with Adelphi coming out on top in both contests. The first meeting was on Saturday, April 18 with the Brown and Gold celebrating "Senior Day" behind a 15-5 victory as Froccaro scored six times while Jacqueline Jahelka added five goals. The second meeting came last weekend in the NE-10 Championship Semifinals as Adelphi advanced via a 14-5 victory. Froccaro scored four times in that meeting with Jahelka adding three goals and two assists. Despite the victories for Adelphi this season, Stonehill leads the all-time series 16-9 while also winning the lone NCAA Tournament game prior to Saturday as the Skyhawks upended the Panthers 16-10 in the 2005 NCAA Final Four. Stonehill went on to win the National Championship that season.

What's At Stake: The winner of Adelphi-Stonehill advances to the NCAA Tournament Semifinal Round in Salem, VA next weekend to face the winner of Le Moyne and New Haven.
