Four Named IWLCA All-Americans

Northborough, Mass. - Following another NCAA tournament berth and Northeast 10 Conference Championship season, the Adelphi University women's lacrosse team has four players earning Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-American recognition, announced on Wednesday. 

The IWLCA has announced the 48 student-athletes selected for the 2026 Division II All-American teams, divided into first, second, and third teams. These IWLCA All-Americans, representing 21 different institutions, are recognized as the top athletes in the sport this year.

Points leader Alexandra Leggio finished her senior season with 102 points courtesy of 54 goals and 48 assists. 

Sonny Lionetti was a defensive mainstay, earning Northeast 10 Defensive Player of the Year honors for the second time in her career. She totaled 33 caused turnovers with 45 draw control wins while also collecting 34 ground balls en route to her first First Team nod.

Picking up the first All-American honor of her career was Julia Foppiano, who earned a Second Team recognition, wrapping up her third season with the Panthers. She ranked second on the team in overall points with 100, and was the team's lead playmaker with 64 assists. 

Rounding out the recognition, Rita Sefransky is a repeat Third Team honoree, doubling up on her selection from a season ago. 

In addition to the IWLCA, the USA Lacrosse revealed it's All-American picks on May 12. Lionetti was the only member to appear on the First Team, as Leggio and Sefransky appeared on the Second and Third teams, respectively. Foppiano and Ashley Kolomechuk were chosen as an Honorable Mention choices.
