Ludlow, Mass. - The Adelphi University men's tennis team hit the road on Tuesday for its first Northeast-10 Conference contest away from Long Island this spring. With the American International College Yellow Jackets forced to default at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, the Panthers were spotted an early two points en route to a 9-0 match win.
After
Justin Vijungco and
Christopher Buckley earned a win by default at third doubles, the remaining two Brown and Gold pairs to take the court wasted little time in opening up the Adelphi (7-4, 7-1 NE-10) advantage on the host Yellow Jackets (0-5, 0-3 NE-10).
Matteo Cannavera and
Uladzislau Litvinchuk, playing together for the first time this season, recorded an 8-2 win at the top spot before
Sander Brenner and
Chiwete Njokanma followed up with an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles.
The Panthers allowed their opponents on the board in just two of the five singles matches to take the court, as Brenner and
Sebastian Zapata recorded double bagel, 6-0, 6-0 victories at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively, and Litvinchuk blanked Alfie Cleave at No. 2 singles in an 8-0 pro set. At the top spot, Cannavera added an 8-2 win before Njokanma closed out the day with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3.
