Box Score 2 West Haven, CT – The Adelphi University baseball claimed 7-3 Northeast-10 Conference win at New Haven this afternoon followed by a 7-1 setback to the Chargers in seven innings of non-league play.
Nick Zito led the Panthers (10-11/7-4 NE-10) on the day with three hits, three RBI, and two runs scored. Five others recorded two hits each while
Robert Vani scored two runs and
Donato Signore drove in two.
The Panthers opened up the first three innings of game one by scoring all seven of their runs. In the first, three straight one-out singles loaded the bases for Signore. Signore took advantage of the chance with a double to right center to drive in two.
Alex Zykoff followed up with a RBI single to score the final tally of the inning.
During the second inning, Zito drove in all three of the runs of the inning with one swing of the bat, hitting a homerun to right center. Zykoff scored the team's final run in the third inning after a leadoff single and stolen base, coming around on
Eric Hassell's double down the left field line.
Kyle Cullen tried to spark a New Haven (7-9/ 3-5 NE-10) rally in the fifth inning with a leadoff solo homerun. The Chargers added two more runs in the eighth on two hits; however,
Ricky Van Allen ended the threat with a fly out to right field.

Jonathon Mulford moved to 4-0 on the season behind 7.2 innings pitched that included seven strikeouts and five hits allowed. Zito, Zykoff, and Hassell joined
Kory Cassara with two hits each in the opener.
The Brown and Gold got on the board first in the second game with
Camden Orologio driving in
John Fogarty in the second inning on a RBI single. Fogarty reached a batter earlier on a double to left field. From there, New Haven scored seven unanswered runs to earn the regional victory.
The Chargers responded right away in the bottom of the second with two runs on three hits, including a two RBI single from Nick Russo. Eddie Tammaro added another in the fourth with a RBI single followed by the final four runs all coming in the sixth on just two hits. Jack Zagaja notched two RBIs in the inning with a two-run homerun.
The Panthers continue their trip up the Northeast tomorrow with a doubleheader at cross-divisional rival Saint Anselm starting at 12:00 pm.
