Box Score 2 San Marcos, CA – The Adelphi University softball team dropped back-to-back games to California State University San Marcos in doubleheader action on Friday afternoon. Game one came down to the final inning, as the Cougars won on a base hit in the bottom of the seventh. The hosts improve to 14-3 overall as the Panthers fall to 0-8.
Victoria Wink became the all-time career assists leader with 430 assists, passing Diana DiPiano who previously held the record with 423 over four seasons (2006-2009).
Jordan Catalano and
Megan Lewis led the offense in today's losses, going 3-5 and 2-5 respectively.

Danielle Cutuli and
Melaney Reichelt were the only Panthers to score.
Game 1The home team was first to get on the scoreboard after the leadoff made it to second on a Panther miscue. Cougar Melyssa Bellamy had a deep line drive to left which scored Lindsay Cerulle. Ennabe escaped the inning without any more damage after striking out Brogan Hoenisch to end the first.
San Marcos threatened again in the bottom of the second, stranding but the inning came to a close without a Cougar crossing home. In the top of the third inning, King led it off with an infield hit of her own followed by her first career stolen base. The Panthers tied the score on a Wink sacrifice fly, scoring King.
The Brown and Gold defense remained flawless for two innings until the Cougars found an opportunity to strike again.
Nicole Camera appeared on the mound for Adelphi, with one runner on base, who eventually scored to give the hosts a 2-1 advantage. Coming back, Adelphi scored in the seventh on a Cougar error that scored Cutuli and tie the game at two apiece. Back-to-back doubles in the last inning handed the home team the walk-off win with a final score of 3-2.
Game 2Lindsay Mapes held the Cougars scoreless through five innings, until letting up a home run to Hoenisch that tied the score at 1-1. The Panthers scored in the third inning after Steph Barbaro drew a walk to lead off and then
Christina Palmenteri blasted a stand up triple to right center to take a lead.
The bottom of the fifth featured five more runs, four of which were courtesy of a Bellamy grand slam, making the score 6-1 in favor of San Marcos. Pitcher for the Cougars, Katie Wilkinson, held the Panthers to five hits and one run in 7.0 innings of work.
The team will return for their final California contest on Saturday, February 20 as they take on California Baptist at 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. (PST).
