Austin, Texas - The Adelphi softball program celebrated five honorees on the CSC Softball Academic All-District® Team, the College Sports Communicators announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Makayla Comer, Lily Kenney, Tori Parente, Jenna Plue and Ellen Tarjan were all honored for their performance both on the field and in the classroom.Â
Parente led all nominees for the Panthers with a 3.81Â cumulative grade point average while putting together a season in which she led the team in hitting (.362) and also made contributions in the circle, recording seven wins. The Franklin Square native tallied 34 hits at the plate, including a pair of triples, while posting a 3.53 earned run average over 75.1 innings pitched.
Plue compiled a 3.67 cumulative grade point average in the classroom. The senior recorded 20 wins this season while striking out 193 batters, cementing herself among the top-10 all-time strikeout leaders in program history despite spending just two seasons with Adelphi. The Ithaca, N.Y. native finished the year with a 2.76 earned run average over 205.1 innings pitched while holding batters to a .232 average.
Comer and Tarjan earned the honor after serving as key middle-of-the-order pieces for the offense this season. The duo combined for 98 hits, 44 RBIs and seven home runs. Tarjan recently walked the stage at Adelphi's commencement ceremony last week, as she leaves Garden City with a 3.61 cumulative grade point average in Biology, while Comer completed her junior year with a 3.77 GPA in Physical Education.
Kenney rounds out the selections for the Cats. She earned a 3.68Â grade-point average in Political Science while recording 10 wins this season for the Brown and Gold. She hurled 128.1 innings, compiling a 3.27 earned run average while striking out 98 batters.
