Kings Point, N.Y. - Earlier today, the Adelphi University swimming program took part in the USMMA Memorial Invitational amongest several other teams.
In the third event of the day,
Danielle Dreiss claimed second place in the 500-yard freestyle behind a finishing time of 5:31.65. Five events later, the Panthers earned their lone victory of the afternoon thanks to
Peter D'Ortenzio touching first among 51 other finishes with a time of 49.74 in the 100 free.
Gerry Theophilidis finished in sixth in the same event after posting a 51.04 time.
D'Ortenzio later continued his afternoon with a second place time of 2:01.97 in the 200 butterfly. He also added a 50 free time of 23.05 to claim sixth place in the 18th event of the day before another second place time of 1:51.18 in the 200 free and a 100 fly fourth place showing of 54.40. Dreiss also put forth another solid effort on the back of a fifth place, 5:08.97 clocking in the 400 IM before a
Jacqueline Vani third place time of 2:43.19 in the 200 breast.
The Brown and Gold are next in the pool with the scheduled ECAC Championships the weekend of December 4-6.
