Rindge, N.H. - Courtesy of straight set wins in four singles matches, the Adelphi University men's tennis team blanked the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University, 9-0, in a Northeast-10 Conference match on Saturday morning. With the win, Adelphi improves to 2-0 overall and in NE-10 play, while Franklin Pierce drops to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
The Panthers took a 3-0 lead behind strong wins in doubles play, as they did not drop more than two games in any of the doubles matches. The highlight for the Brown and Gold came at No. 3 doubles, where
Christopher Buckley and
Justin Vijungco blanked Logan Sherwood and Aras Banevicius, 8-0.
The Panthers posted uncomplicated wins in singles play to secure the victory, anchored by 6-1, 6-1 wins by both Vijungco and
Sebastian Zapata. A day after picking up his first collegiate doubles win, Buckley posted his first collegiate win in singles via an 8-3 pro set win over Banevicius.
