Box Score West Haven, CT - The Adelphi University defense held #4 New Haven to just 11 shots, helping the second ranked Panthers to a, 13-5 win against the formally unbeaten Chargers on Tuesday, April 8 in West Haven, Connecticut. With the win the Brown and Gold push their stellar record to a perfect, 12-0 overall and 7-0 in conference play, while New Haven slips to 10-1 and 6-1 in the NE-10.

Alexa Froccaro and Devan Crimi led the Panther offense with five points each, Froccaro picked up five goals, while Crimi was credited with four goals and an assist. Rachel O'Brien and Emily Keesling also turned in nice performances with two goals and an assist for O'Brien and two goals for Keesling.

Felicia Mills once again controlled the draw for Adelphi with six draw controls, while Meg Brown, Ryley Weber and O'Brien picked up three ground balls each. The defense was paced by Weber and Lauren Janelli, who both caused two turnovers and goalkeeper Taylor Hayes made five saves in her 11th win of the season.

After several scoreless minutes the host got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead 5:13 into the game. Adelphi wasted little time in responding, knotting the game just over two minutes later on O'Brien's first goal of the game and then moving out in front 66 seconds after that, courtesy of Froccaro. New Haven, stopped the Panther burst with another goal of their own, tying the game for the second time at two with 18:28 on the clock.

The Brown and Gold were up to the challenge again, as evidenced by Crimi's goal, just 94 later, that kick started a three goal Adelphi spurt. Keesling and Froccaro contributed to the run, putting the Panthers ahead, 5-2 with 13:16 left. Adelphi and New Haven traded goals to end the first half of action, giving the visitors a, 6-3 lead at intermission.

The Panthers wasted absolutely not time in the second frame, scoring just 41 seconds after the whistle off the stick of Crimi. That goal was followed by another Froccaro tally and Crimi's third goal of the game minutes later, putting the Brown and Gold out front by six goals, 9-3, just 4:54 into the second half. The lead was more then enough for the Adelphi defense. The Panther defensive unit held the normally high scoring hosts to just two goals in the final 25 minutes, to help the Brown and Gold secure an impressive 13-5 victory.

Adelphi out shot New Haven, 43-11, committed less turnovers, 8-15 and picked up more ground balls, 20-15. The Panthers also came out on top in a very critical aspect of the game, draw controls, 13-7.
