Box Score 2 Garden City, N.Y. – The Adelphi University softball squad picked up a Sunday afternoon split with non-conference opponent Queens at Janet L. Ficke Field. Queens won the opener 6-4 in nine innings, followed by a 3-2 decision for the Brown and Gold.
The Panthers finish the regular season 26-17 overall while the Knights sit at 31-15.

Queens drew its first run in the third as senior outfielder Cat Pastor came in on a sacrifice fly from junior pitcher Monique Roberge. However, Adelphi earned that run back in the fifth as Wink again scored on a fielding error to make it 4-1.
The Knights went into the final frame thinking rally and did that with three runs in the top of the seventh inning to force extras. Roberge picked up another RBI in the inning along with freshman infielder Kayla Morrissey. Senior outfielder Melissa Natale scored the tying run on a fielding error.
Roberge was again front and center for Queens in extra innings, driving in the go ahead run with a double in the ninth inning. Morrissey brought Roberge in with a single up the middle to give Queens a 6-4 lead that held up for the victory.
Roberge also earned the victory from the circle with 9.0 innings pitched behind seven strikeouts and just one earned run.

Katie Andrews quickly responded for the Panthers in the bottom half with a single to right center that drove in two runs.
Andrews again came through for the Brown and Gold with a RBI single in the third to score Cutuli and give the Panthers a 3-2 lead, the eventual final.
Freshman pitcher Lindsays Mapes improved her record to 9-9 with a complete game, seven strikeout performance.
The Panthers look forward to the Northeast-10 Conference Championship this week, start Tuesday with the first round followed by play on Thursday through Saturday.
