Crimi, Froccaro Move #2 Women's Lacrosse Past the Mavericks, 17-3

Box Score Garden City, N.Y. - Devan Crimi and Alexa Froccaro combined to score nine goals and hand out four assists, powering the second ranked Adelphi University women's lacrosse team past visiting Mercy College, 17-3 in a non-conference contest, Wednesday, April 2 on Motamed Field. With the victory, the Panthers remain among the ranks of the unbeaten at 10-0 overall, while the Mavericks fall to 4-7 on the season.

Crimi led all scorers with seven points on five goals and two assists, while Froccaro was just one point back with six, on four goals and two helpers. Danielle Jaycox, Jackie Jahelka and Rachel O'Brien netted two tallies each, with O'Brien chipping in four assists and Jahelka one.

The Brown and Gold defense held the Mavericks in check all night, not allowing a shot for just over 41 minutes of game time, and holding the visitors to just four shots. Crimi and Jacqueline Williams led the way with causing five and three turnovers respectively, while Jaycox and Jahelka caused two apiece. Felicia Mills and Williams controlled the draw, winning seven and four, while four different Panthers had two ground balls and Jordann Dempsey picked up her first win of the season in net.

Adelphi controlled the action from the first whistle, holding Mercy scoreless for over 50 minutes, while putting 16 goals on the score board. Half of the Panther goals in the first period came off the stick of Crimi or Froccaro and both Jaycox and O'Brien netted two, helping the Brown and Gold put the game away early, courtesy of a 12-0 halftime lead. The Panthers would rattle off the first four goals of the second half, with the final tally credited to Danielle Montano to effectively put the game away, 16-0, with 11:24 remaining.

The Brown and Gold out shot Mercy, 28-4, grabbed more ground balls, 18-14 and won more draw controls in the victory, 16-6. The Panthers also committed less turnovers, 22-14 and were more effective on the clear, converting nine of 10 chances, compared to three of 14 for the visitors.
