Springfield, Mass. - The Adelphi University men's tennis team headed north to face off against the Yellow Jackets of American International College on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers recorded two wins in doubles play and did not relinquish the lead en route to a 7-2 match win. With the victory, the Panthers improve to 8-5 overall and 6-1 in the conference, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 0-8 in the NE-10 and 0-10 overall.
The Panthers got off to a good start in doubles play by taking two of the three points to push into the lead.
Sander Brenner and
Uladzislau Litvinchuk record an 8-4 win at second doubles over James Worrall and Gustavo Franceli while
Chiwete Njokanma and
Justin Vijungco recorded an 8-1 win against Jason Popek and Alfie Cleave.
In singles, the Panthers managed to pick up five points from the No. 2 to No. 6 spots, all without dropping a set. Litvinchuk and Vijungco proved equally dominant and fifth and sixth singles, as they did not surrender a game to Cleave or Timothy Zoma, respectively.
