Crimi, Froccaro Lead Women's Lacrosse Past Philadelphia, 20-4

The Panthers took an 11-2 lead into halftime.

Box Score Philadelphia, PA - The #2 ranked Adelphi University women's lacrosse team traveled to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to take on Philadelphia University at the Penn Charter School on Saturday, March 8. Devan Crimi and Alexa Froccaro combined for seven goals and eight assists, carrying the Panthers to a 20-4 win over the Rams. With the win, Adelphi rises to 3-0, while Philadelphia slips to 0-1.

Crimi and Froccaro paced the offense with a combined 15 points. Crimi had four goals and three assists, while Froccaro netted three goals and added five helpers. Kate Beier and Danielle Jaycox also turned in strong performances, Beier with a game-high five goals and one assist and Jaycox with four goals on just four shots.

Defensively, Adelphi was led by Lauren Janelli, Camille Rosellini and Beier, who each had two caused turnovers. Rosellini, Froccaro, Jacqueline Williams and Jackie Jahelka helped the Panthers control the tempo of the game, picking up two ground balls apiece, while Felicia Mills won a team-high 11 draw controls. Taylor Hayes picked up her third straight win, making a season-high eight stops.

Adelphi took control of the game early, scoring the first five goals of the contest, giving the Panthers a 5-0 lead just 11:46 into the action. The Brown and Gold scored six of the final eight goals of the half, three by Beier and two by Jaycox, to take an 11-2 lead into the half.

The second frame was more of the same. Adelphi turned a 14-4 game with 13:32 to play, into a 20-4 victory, with six goals in the final nine minutes pf play, including two each from Beier and Froccaro.

Coach's Comments
"It was great to spread the scoring out today," Head Coach Rob Grella stated. "We had a lot of different players contribute and we're looking forward to opening up our Northeast-10 schedule next week at Merrimack."

Up Next
The Panthers travel to North Andover, Massachusetts on Saturday, March 15 for a 1:00 pm meeting with Merrick College. The contest will be Adelphi's Northeast-10 opener and the Warriors second conference test.
