Men's Tennis Wins Fifth Straight, Tops Assumption 5-4

The Panthers have won five straight matches since starting the season 0-4.

Uladzislau Litvinchuk turned in another strong performance on the singles and doubles courts for Adelphi.
Port Washington, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's tennis team won its fifth straight match after defeating the Greyhounds of Assumption College, 5-4, on Friday afternoon at the Port Washington Tennis Academy. After taking a 2-1 lead at the close of doubles play, a split of the singles matches was all that was required to see the Panthers to a victory. With the win, Adelphi improves to 5-4 overall and 4-0 in the Northeast-10, while Assumption falls to 5-6 and 1-4 in the conference.

The Panthers put themselves ahead in the match courtesy of identical 8-1 wins at second and third doubles by Sander Brenner and Uladzislau Litvinchuk and Chiwete Njokanma and Justin Vijungco, respectively. Just as they did in the Panthers' previous match, Njokanma, Litvinchuk and Vijungco responded to the loss of the first three singles points and recorded straight set wins in singles to secure the match for Adelphi.

Coach's Thoughts on the Match
"This was another big win for the men," Head Coach Michael Misiti stated. "The indoors doesn't suit all of our players, and we've had to tough through this indoor season with some difficult wins."
