Box Score Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University baseball team hosted Nyack College in a non-conference contest on Thursday afternoon. Despite putting the first run on the board, the Panthers were unable to pick up their fourth consecutive win, dropping a 4-3 decision to the Warriors. The home tema falls to 4-7 overall as Nyack improves to 5-8 on the season.
Vincent Caputo started on the hill for the Panthers, retiring three Warriors in order, with a pair of strikeouts to head to the bottom of the first. Richard Cambria drew a walk to start things off for the Brown and Gold.
Cliff Brantley continued his hitting streak, singling up the middle.
Richard Mejia reached on a fielder's choice, but a miscue by the Warriors gave Cambria the opportunity to hustle home to give the Adelphi a 1-0 lead.
The Grey and Crimson responded in their following at-bats, after several Warriors drew walks from Caputo. Nyack's Josh Brunvoll launched a deep fly ball that scored Brent James to even the score at one apiece. The following two innings would remain scoreless for either team.
The Warriors started the top of the fifth off with a standup double down the left field line off of righty
Matt Abramowitz. The defense worked out of the inning letting just one run score, stranding two more on base, to give Nyack a 2-1 lead. Sharkey legged out a bunt for a base hit to get on in the bottom of the fifth.
Zack Levinson registered his first collegiate hit, advancing Sharkey who tied the game several pitches later on a balk by the Warriors Zack Kamerman, 2-2.

Brandon Stahl, singling to right field to score Burns (pinch runner for Levinson) to return the lead to the Panthers, 3-2.
Nikolas Batas started the top of the sixth for the Brown and Gold, giving up two hits for one run, leaving two Warriors on the base paths for a tie game 3-3 heading in to the seventh.
The Warriors worked themselves into a first and third situation with no outs to start off the top of the eighth inning. Scoring one to regain the lead once again, the Warriors stranded three to end the inning, 4-3. The Panthers were unable to produce any more runs in the remaining innings, ending the final score at 4-3 in favor of Nyack College.
