Men's Tennis Downs St. Thomas Aquinas, 6-3

The Panthers picked up their first win of the year on Saturday.

Uladzislau Litvinchuk did not drop a game in singles or doubles in the Panthers' 6-3 win against St. Thomas Aquinas.
Box Score Tenafly, N.J. - The Adelphi University men's tennis team hit the road to take on a non-conference opponent in St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday night. The Panthers recorded their first win of the season against the Spartans, 6-3, to improve to 1-4 overall on the year. With the loss, the Spartans drop to 2-6.  

The Panthers took a 2-1 lead in the match at the close of doubles play, as they recorded wins in the second and third spots. Sander Brenner and Uladzislau Litvinchuk didn't concede a single game to their opponents in the second spot in an 8-0 win, while Chiwete Njokanma and Justin Vijungco defeated their opponents 8-5 at third doubles.

In singles, the Panthers took four of the six matches to seal the decision in their favor. At second singles, Sebastian Zapata recorded a victory in an up-and-down match, as he eventually prevailed 7-5, 0-6, 7-6. Njokanma and Litvinchuk each recorded 6-0, 6-0 victories in the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.

Coach's Thoughts on the Match

"I was very happy with the courageous performance by the men, in a match that ended at nearly midnight," Head Coach Michael Misiti stated. "We hope to take this momentum to next weekend where we will be away in our first conference match."

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, March 8, when they travel to Colchester, VT, to take on the Purple Knights of St. Michael's College for their first NE-10 match of the season.
